چکیده

Microstructure evolution and precipitation behaviors before after tension at elevated temperature of Nb Nb-Mo microalloyed fire-resistant steels were investigated by scanning electron microscopy transmission microscopy, physical–chemical phase analysis small-angle X-ray scattering. Results showed that the martensite austenite (M/A) islands in a rolled state disappeared tempering, cementite large number nanometer-sized carbide precipitated. Those nanosized particles identified as NbC steel (Nb, Mo)C steel. The amount is nearly equal for two state. However, tempering treatment 600 °C, increased more obviously than steel, indicating Mo promotes Nb. Correspondingly, dissolved was reduced, which results decreased coarsening kinetics compared with

Equilibrium Model of Precipitation in Microalloyed Steels

The formation of precipitates during thermal processing of microalloyed steels greatly influences their mechanical properties. Precipitation behavior varies with steel composition and temperature history and can lead to beneficial grain refinement or detrimental transverse surface cracks. This work presents an efficient computational model of equilibrium precipitation of oxides, sulfides, nitri...

Effect of Nb on the Microstructure, Mechanical Properties, Corrosion Behavior, and Cytotoxicity of Ti-Nb Alloys

In this paper, the effects of Nb addition (5-20 wt %) on the microstructure, mechanical properties, corrosion behavior, and cytotoxicity of Ti-Nb alloys were investigated with the aim of understanding the relationship between phase/microstructure and various properties of Ti-xNb alloys. Phase/microstructure was analyzed using X-ray diffraction (XRD), SEM, and TEM. The results indicated that the...

Particle-Size-Grouping Model of Precipitation Kinetics in Microalloyed Steels

The formation, growth, and size distribution of precipitates greatly affects the microstructure and properties of microalloyed steels. The computational Particle-Size-Grouping (PSG) kinetic models were developed to simulate precipitate particle growth due to collision and diffusion mechanisms. Firstly, the standard PSG method for collision is clearly explained and verified. Then a new PSG metho...

Magnetic 3 d impurities in Nb and MO

We calculate the electronic structure of 3d impurities in niobium and molybdenum. Our calculations rely on the local density approximation of density functional theory. Assuming a muffin-tin description of the atomic potentials, the impurity potential and the ones of the nearest neighbours are calculated self-consistently while the embedding of this perturbed cluster into the host is described ...

Effect of aging temperature on structural evolution of HP-Nb heat resistant steel

In this study, the changes in microstructure of HP-Nb cast heat resistant steel after 8 years of service at high temperatures were investigated. Study of microstructure using optical microscopy (OM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) equipped with an energy dispersive spectrometry (EDS) showed that the microstructure of this steel in as-cast condition includes an austenitic matrix, and that...
